ABOUT ME.jpg

It all started when…

I always had an interest in photography. I took it seriously when my parents bought me my very own camera at the age of 13. The interest peeked during high school when I was fortunate enough to participate in a COOP program that led me to work with one of the best photographers who taught me everything I know!

I am a fully bilingual photographer (French & English), based in a small town just 30 minutes east of Ottawa. Whether you want your photos taken on Parlement hill, in front of the CN Tower, on Mont Royal or by the ocean in Mexico, I’ll go where ever I need to to get your perfect photos!

I love getting to know new people and getting that perfect photo, so why not combine the two! I’m always one to ask lots of questions to get to know people better. So here are a few fun facts about myself to get to know me a bit better!

  • I met my husband in high school when we were both in grade 9. We both had geography class together and just clicked right away.

  • Before I worked full-time as a photographer, I worked at a bridal store and for a casino promoting events!

  • We welcomed our daughter Olive into the world on October 31st, 2021 (Yay, Halloween baby!). This also means I shot my first full wedding season after Covid, very pregnant.

  • I’m a huge animal lover. I have 4 cats and 1 dog! I even made them an Instagram account. Yep, I’m one of those people!

  • My favourite meal is either sushi or tacos!

  • My first two cars were yellow. I thought it was so handy to have when you’re looking for your car in the parking lot! My current car would have been yellow if that was an option for sure.

  • I like reading but I’m picky about my books. I have this series of 12 books that I keep reading over and over throughout the years.

  • I’m the biggest FRIENDS fan ever. I’ve been watching the show since it first aired on TV, had the full series on DVD and now re-watching it on Netflix. I dare you to quiz me about it when we meet!

  • I love coffee, especially vanilla lattes!

  • I have an obsession with mugs. Any time I visit somewhere new, I buy a mug. Or see a cute mug at Winners. I have lots of mugs.

  • I’m a big fan of Marvel and DC superhero movies, thanks to my husband!

  • I love action movies but if it’s too intense I’m very tempted to fast forward to the next scene. Drives my husband insane.

  • I’m an ambivert (a mix of introvert and extrovert personality) which I believe helps my clients feel comfortable when being photographed, but don’t take my word for it- let’s try it out!

How long have you been in the industry?

I’ve been in the wedding industry since 2012. I was mentored by an amazin photographer during my COOP stage which blossomed into a symbiotic relationship which taught me everything I know. Since that time, I have amassed over 150 weddings, hundred’s of engagements, maternity and family sessions.

What is your style of photography?

A photographer’s style is hard to describe using exact terms. However, I employ a photojournalistic approach, which means I want to tell a story through powerful, yet gentle imagery. I aim to get the best candid and natural captures in order to harness every single moment that happens throughout the event. We do however end up with a good mix of posed and natural-looking images. Going with the flow and being at the ready for any eventuality has proven to be rewarding.

We hate being photographed!

What’s the process like during the session?

Whether it is a wedding or family shoots, the key is to be yourself. To be comfortable in your surroundings. I want to capture the moment you are you for you. During every session, I do my best to make the subject(s) as calm and relaxed as possible. When I meet clients, I explain to everyone involved that it is normal to feel awkward. We feel awkward because we don’t know what we should be doing. That is why I am there. I will guide you through the process and you will feel relaxed and confident as we progress through the session. Eventually, you will find yourself doing what you normally do and I will be capturing it with no prompting. Whether it’s a couple session, family or portrait session, I follow the same process and encourage people to be themselves, whether that’s being completely crazy or calm. After all, I’m there to capture real moments not poses.

I have a portable studio set up for the time being. This is great for cake smashes and headshots/branding sessions.

Commercial space in small towns are hard to come by these days but hopefully a studio space to come soon!

do you have a studio space?

How long after the session will we receive our images?

During busy season, it can take up to 4 weeks to receive the full collection of images. I do my best to try and send you some sneak peeks within the following days of your session/wedding.

During the slower months, it typically takes 2-3 weeks until you receive the full collection of images.

For portrait sessions, it takes up to 2 weeks to receive all of the images!

Will all the images be edited?

Every single image that you’ll receive will have been exposure and colour corrected. You’ll also receive a black and white copie of each image!

Can we give you a list or show you examples of images that we’d like?

Yes, of course! I encourage it. I always like to see what you have in mind so that I can do my best to get that perfect shot for you! I will throw in my own style but having a pose to base ourselves is great.

For sure! I encourage you to go have a look at my blog since I have a few summary sessions there but as I’m growing the blog, you can also go have a look at my portfolio. If you still feel like you want to see more, send me a message and I’d be glad to send you a few links to full weddings.

I also try to post pretty consistently on Facebook and Instagram. If you don’t already follow me there, I encourage you to go have a look!

I love what i’m seeing but i want to see more. Where can we see more of your work?

Over the course of several years, during my time working weddings as a photographer and for my very own wedding, I have had the privilege to work with many wedding industry related vendors. And as with any business, word of mouth and recommendations are very important in the success of our individual skills. To that end, I would like to do my part and share some of my favourites in the business!
